About
Monica is a passionate flutist, renowned for her natural ability to produce beautiful sounds. She earned her Master’s in Music from NYU Steinhardt, where she studied under the guidance of Park Soo Kyung and was awarded the Music & Performing Arts Professions Departmental Scholarship. Monica also holds a Bachelor of Music from the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase, graduating with the highest distinction, where she studied closely with flutist Tara Helen O’Connor.
Her musical journey began at the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, specializing in music, and has been enriched by the mentorship of accomplished teachers, including Nadine Hur, Anna Urrey, and Keith Underwood.
During her time at SUNY Purchase, Monica co-founded the Lieblich Trio, a chamber group that achieved notable success, winning the New York International Grand Prix Competition and the International Youth Music Competition. She is also a member of the NY Flutists and currently leads another chamber group that performs throughout New York and New Jersey.
Monica’s dedication to her craft has earned her multiple awards, including the New York Flute Competition, NJ Flute Society Young Artists Competition, New York Artists International Competition, New York International Music Competition, Friday Woodmere Club Young Artists Competition, Purchase Concerto Competition and was named an alternate in the Flute Society of Washington Competition.
